Saved, Now What?
Read God’s Word and pray often. It may be one of your first prayers is to change your
heart so that you want to Read and Pray. Too many Christians only Read and Pray
because they are SUPPOSE to. That is, they read and pray because they think that’s
what God wants them to do.
In a bible study, I had the participants give me a list of all the things that Christians are
suppose to do. That is, a “suppose to” list. They came up with …
• Pray
• Read God’s Word
• Evangelize
• Go to Church
• Tithe
• Get Baptized
Then I pointed out to them that they would make a good modern day Pharisee. That is,
the Pharisees thought that doing the list, would be pleasing to God. They forgot that
Jesus sees their heart. Many times Jesus said, “I knew their heart.”
Don’t get me wrong, we are to be obedient and do those things. Not because we are
suppose to, . but because we WANT to. That is, our heart longs to do these things. Many
new Christians get caught up in this suppose-to mentality. If you find yourself with this
mind set, ask Jesus to forgive you and ask Him to change your heart. Dealing with
Jesus in truth is the first step in getting your prayers answered.
So what are we to do now that we are saved? Get involved in a Bible Teaching Church,
pray often and fellowship with fellow believers. If you still do the same things that you
were doing before you became saved; hang around the same people, have the same
habits, go to the same places, etc. Then one of two things will happen. You will continue
in your sin and die lost. Or you will, through the love of God, change and start on the
road of ever change into what God wants for you. If you are saved, you cannot be
unchanged. God will start revealing truths that will change your life. The life of the
saved is exciting and forever changing. AMEN
Ps. 37:4 Delight thyself also in the Lord, and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
